Why do the BIG MOCK?

The BIG MOCK is catered for when you are close to finishing your preparation. It has a mix of topics that you might find familiar with and topics that you may not have been prepared for at all. This is what you would expect in the UKMLA exam. We have produced the BIG MOCKS to give you a more accurate prediction of your exam marks. It is useful to go through this using a 4-hour timer with a break at 2 hours so that you know the exact time challenge that you may face in the real exam. 

How does the BIG MOCK differ from the actual MLA AKT?

The BIG MOCK is presented in a continuous, PDF-style format. You scroll down the page to work through the questions.

The actual MLA AKT is delivered electronically by individual UK medical schools. The BIG MOCK is therefore designed to reflect the content, structure and time pressure of the MLA AKT, but it does not reproduce the exact onscreen interface used by every medical school.

How does the BIG MOCK differ from our usual timed mocks?

Our usual timed mocks provide a closer representation of a question-by-question examination format. However, the BIG MOCK serves a different purpose: its questions are selected in advance to provide a consistent balance of topics and difficulty across the MLA content map.

All our mocks, including the BIG MOCK and usual timed mocks, are written at the level expected for the MLA AKT. However, the usual timed mocks select questions randomly from different categories. As a result, the balance and overall difficulty may vary between attempts.

We review the difficulty of the BIG MOCK using voluntary, anonymised feedback from candidates who have subsequently taken the MLA AKT. This may include their BIG MOCK score, reported MLA AKT score and pass or fail outcome. We use this information to help calibrate the BIG MOCK so that its overall difficulty remains broadly comparable with candidates’ experience of the MLA AKT.
